I did it as an AO pass under the mental ray render passes settings,you can also add mib_fast_occlusion material and fg occlusion light to get the same effect.
super cool angles. Lot of work went into this. When I do an AO with Maya in a closed room, the AO doesn't work; it's all black. How did you get the first shot work, inside the hanger?
The hanger model had some big open areas on the right wall,i used a directional light with fast_fg assigned to it and the was also a area light pointing up to add a little ambience.
