Quick Render Lighting Rig

Very simple set up for looking at studio style lighting, this is quick to render for most objects, there is lots of tutorials out there on Maya and blogs but sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to find...

1. Create a point light; assign mib_fg_occlusion to the point lights color node.

2. Select the camera you wish to render your view from and change the background color to white in the attribute editor.

3. Create a groundplane. Go to hypershader>surface and assign "use background" to the ground plane.

4. Under mental ray render settings tick final gather,to increase edge sharpness turn sampling and multi-pixel filtering up.

5. Render.
